Why do we only take pictures of food before it is served?

This sounds like a disgusting question, but honestly, why don't we? I personally appreciate the look of corroded, destroyed, messy things just as much as well put together and fancy. that was a bad contrast of the way things look, but I recently took some pictures of cake, and I really enjoy them. Forget what it actually is and try to appreciate the look of things.
